About our merger

Together for our communities

Southway and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group have spent years providing homes and supporting communities across Greater Manchester, each with strong roots in the neighbourhoods we serve.

We came together, recognising that joining forces would help us respond to growing demand for affordable homes, rising costs and the changing needs of residents.

While this marks a new chapter for us, we’re proud of where we’ve come from. We’ll build on the strengths of both organisations, keeping our local connections and the people we serve at the centre of what we do.

  • Both organisations were strong and financially stable. However, rising living costs, higher operating and material costs, growing housing waiting lists and new regulation continued to affect how we supported residents and communities.

The merger created one organisation serving more than 47,000 residents and 21,000 homes across Greater Manchester.

Becoming a larger organisation will make us financially stronger and more resilient, helping us meet residents’ needs and aspirations and provide greater value for money.
